Don't be afraid of the Dark is an upcoming horror thriller movie directed by Troy Nixey and based on a script by Matthew Robbins and Guillermo del Toro. It's actually a remake of the 1973 Gothic horror ABC TV movie of the same name. The film will be rated R, so we may expect a real horror movie. The cast includes Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, and Bailee Madison. The movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark will be released on January 21, 2011.

Plot:
"The story centers on Sally a young girl (Bailee Madison) who is set to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in an old mansion they are renovating. She unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures that try to destroy her entire family."

If it wasn't for Guillermo del Toro I wouldn't be much interested in this film. But knowing he wrote the script and that he is also producing, there's hope for this remake of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark to be a hell of a supernatural thriller movie.
